Linnea Burnham grew up with a love for cows and a deep connection to her family farm. As a student at Middlebury College, she designed courses about cheese and worked with numerous cheesemakers. Most recently, Linnea was awarded a grant to research cheese production in France and another to investigate the potential of cheese to build community, offset carbon emissions, and strengthen the local food movement. On the rare occasions when Linnea is not thinking about farming, or attempting to flip 80-lb wheels of cheese, you might find her performing music, working as a volunteer firefighter, or training for her next marathon. As a Watson Fellow, she will spend the next 14-months exploring artisanal cheese production and agriculture in Norway, England, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Brazil, and Mongolia.
